disconnected shadow
disconnected from
all of life
only present, no past
as past is an absurd theatre,
and even so present
as you are only an observer
& not an actor
& only because you were
a shadow, & what do
shadows do but just that
-observe
but now you have been
thrust into participation
as the absurdity burst
from the theatre before
& now you must find
your role in an
act that is already
filled

enlightment brings true bliss
Ignorance is [a false] bliss because we live in a pretense world that ignores our connection to the environment. To know of the wonders of the natural world, and yet have to live amongst the evils of human society, it is pain.
But bliss can be found in a life of harmony with our mother earth, because that is truth. If such a reality would exist, then ignorance would be pain. Those who do not realize that the emptiness they feel cannot be filled with material goods are ignorant of their source of pain - not knowing the natural wonders and their natural place amongst the universal way. By seeking knowledge of these wonders, they may find their place in the universal way – this enlightenment is the truest and purest bliss.

What was that Sir Newton?
"To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction."
(simplified Newton's 3rd law)
So in terms of environmentalism: for every problem made, there is an equal solution created.
Hold on, let us reword that sentence into truth: For every problem made, there is an equal solution to it which will not be recognized by humans; but nevertheless, many solutions will be created to which there will be the exponential reaction (creation) of many more problems.
And here we are back to wicked problems, always somewhere on my mind.

a thought by me, for you
Once humans succeed in removing all toil from their lives, they have also inadvertently succeeded in eliminating any meaning to their lives.

a few good things
so for last christmas, my roommate got me one of those daily desk calendars, theme = Green Ideas.
Everyday, it had some idea, action, group, fact, quote or something likewise relative to becoming a more environmentally conscious and thus friendly consumer (more like friendly and hopefully more conscious as how much consciousness does it take to buy washing detergent with the encryptic labelling "GREEN" or "ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY".
as every suggestion is an alternative to an action that is essentially the same action, just with technically less negative effects. like - its okay to still spoil your tots with toys for christmas, as long as they're not plastic and five stars if it is organic. people are missing the bigger picture, the real problem.
this is exactly what i don't like about the "green movement" - people buy green concepts, and the reason for doing so is usually as superficial as its "the new black".. a way to ease the guilt of being a mindless consumer by becoming more mindful. yet, they don't know why - what is so horrifically wrong with the environment - and how these actions help to abate the problem, assuming they even do. people continue to consumer under the pretense of being a responsible global citizen.
so i give credit to the calendar for including quotes and facts as an attempt to get the masses thinking. these quotes are about the only thing in the calendar useful to me, as I agree with most all of them and have not yet heard them, because all the ideas like "eating one meatless meal a week" and "skipping traditional wrapping paper"are useless to me as its common sense and i already do it.
i want to share some with you:
p.s. i felt pretty guilty about accepting the calendar anyways, as I don't believe in christmas and thus want to be as removed as possible from the grasp of the adulterated tradition. but as she was a new roommate and friend and it was a kind thought, i accepted, and have used the pages as scrap paper for my todo and toget lists, and either composted or recycled it afterwards. the plastic stand will be recycled and i will be a free woman again. and this year, i will not accept or give any gifts that are not handmade, second-hand, or edible.
p.p.s. Dear Santa, all I want for Christmas, is for you to die.

i want to share some with you:
- "The wild places are where we began. When they end, so do we." (David Brower)
- "In the long term, the economy and the environment are the same thing. If it's unenvironmental it is uneconomical. That is the rule of nature." (Mollie Beattie)
- "All our efforts to defeat poverty and pursue sustainable development will be in vain if environmental degradation and natural resource depletion continue unabated." (Kofi Annan)
- "In nature there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are consequences." (Robert Green Ingersoll)
- "Water and air, the two essential fluids on which all life depends, have become global garbage cans." (Jacques Cousteau)
- "It is horrible that we have to fight our own government to save our environment." (Ansel Adams)
- The new deserts being created aren't necessarily hot, dry, sandy places, but are areas where the soil has been so mistreated by humans that it's not useless for growing crops.
- Every year an estimated 7 million Americans are made sick by contaminated tap water, with some rare cases resulting in death. [**I will cover water quality some later date. Just know that legal water does NOT mean safe water, as tens of thousands of chemicals are used in our nation and dumped into our water, and the Safe Drinking Water Act includes VERY FEW chemicals and has not been updated in years. Recent NYT Article . NC Clean Water News**]
- In the US, pesticides poison about 110,000 people each year.
- The average "ecological footprint" per American is 30 acres.
- Between 25-40% of municipal solid waste is organic material that could be composted.
- Americans use public transit for only 2% of transportation. [What are the demographics? How many of those people choose to do so, how many have to? How many are below the poverty line, how many are ethnic minorities?]
- It takes 7 gallons of crude oil to produce one car tire.
- Leaving the rainforests intact and harvesting its many nuts, fruits, and medicinal plants has more economical value than if people were to cut it down for cattle grazing or timber.

p.p.p.s. for those of you that consider yourselves christian in any way or whatother religions that celebrate christmas, a thousand shames on you for the desecration of your once scared holiday by turning it into a 2 month long rampaging display of virile greed and lust. whatever charitable deeds you may do during the holiday season, are overshadowed and belittled, doing absolutely no justice, and are in no way compensation for the consumerist sins you commit. skip the malls and online stores, and instead spend the time with your family and friends rediscovering what christmas is supposed to be about according to your religion, not Big Business.

Paddle Fingers
Paddle fingers (n): fingers that broad, flat, and dull. also, nails do not typically reach over the edge of the finger. named so because of the resemblance to a boat paddle.
how do they play out in the natural selection of things..what are they good for? what are they bad for?
Pros:
-guitar playing
Cons:
-no functional finger nails

how and why
so maybe i feel okay with space and the universe and the cosmos and death right now, after discussing the how and why and who studies what, i feel above that all, so much as to that im discussing the hows and whys OF the hows and whys..

Prohibition FAILS
everytime.
it is what H. Rittel, or more recently as in I learned it today from ET455 prof T. Steelman, would call a "wicked problem"
or as what I'm talking about, its at least part of one, responsible for one
my cherished physics book just informed me that petroleum was chosen as the fuel for automobiles because the prohibition movements of the day banned the alcohols from biomass. didn't know, never thought about it before, but makes complete sense to me..
just another thing the PM is responsible for, like the mafias.
now we are stuck with a "wicked problem" because some extreme control-freaks endorsed by greedy elitists thought alcohol should be consumed by neither people nor cars - alcohol fueling cars, taking drink driving to a whole new level..
but alas, that is the essence of a "wicked problem".. true prohibitionists sincerely thought they could solve so many social ills by banning alcohol .. but alas solutions just create more problems unforeseen..
apparently someone else has already blogged about this in a much more detail - if i have intrigued you, please go on
im going to delve into more legit researching of this relationship, not now though as its 5 30 am - save it for a later day kids..

oh sacred conceptual physics book
it is oh so enlightening..
here are some quotes to enlighten you:
"Many people feel that it is a sign of weakness to change their minds... More important than defending beliefs is improving them." (p. 10)
"Art is about cosmic beauty. Science is about cosmic order. Religion is about cosmic purpose." (p. 14)
"The belief that there is only one truth and that oneself is in possession of it seems to me the deepest root of all the evil that is in the world." - Max Born (p. 15)

word of the day: TRUCKLE
(v) to act in a subservient manner
which reminds me of my creationword from thursday:
putzling (v/n) its when ur walking along talking to urself about big important things
the "-zling" is a suffix from "puzzling" that can be added to any rootword to suggest musings in progress
"putzing" is a similar word already in use, slang for an idiot, and (!!) vulgar slang for a penis. or it could just mean idling along, to putter, which in effect is quite similar to my putzling
"putter" can be:
similar, it may seem that while you are "putzling", you have little energy or purpse, but that is simply because it is all in the mind (although the most effective putzling indeed is oral; but we'll save this for another day..)

| 1. | to busy or occupy oneself in a leisurely, casual, or ineffective manner: to putter in the garden. |
| 2. | to move or go in a specified manner with ineffective action or little energy or purpose: to putter about the house on a rainy day. |
| 3. | to move or go slowly or aimlessly; loiter. |

all is evanescent
i am a person who is always thinking -
always
usually they are meaningless, trivial,
not well thought out
but sometimes they are more
particularly when i have a stint of time
with no distractions;
like laying waiting for sleep,
or just laying waiting for nothing particular
like being alone surrounded by nature
or alone surrounded by a crowd
these are the times
when the epic, most profound thoughts
ebb through my mind
the currents that are truly soul-reflecting
but they are just momentary
once i recognize the significance
the thoughts is already gone,
forgotten forever
most of these lost thoughts
are eloquent sentences
words chosen and arranged by the soul
to reflect its own spirit,
just using my mind as a medium of expression
i long to record them, on paper, tape,
anything
so i can cherish them forever,
but i can never achieve that memory,
my soul refuses to be captured
so i end up writing, taping, drawing, etc..
trivial things that are as inaccurate,
as they are unimportant
expressions on paper are always different
from those in the mind
at least for me.
